Ashakis Mobile Afrocentric Hairdressing is the trading style of Carol Gooden-Johnson who is lovingly known as Maa Ashaki by friends and family.

Ashaki means beautiful. Jamaican-born Maa Ashaki adopted the name at the age of 19 when she started growing her natural locks. A trained beautician and a Rastafarian, she is passionate about chemical-free hair maintenance.

Maa Ashakis knowledge of herbs and African Hairstyling experience were gained during her childhood in Jamaica and over 20 years journey through North America, the Caribbean islands and Africa.

Her international clientele include Rita Marley, Painter-Artist Lynval Whitelocke and members of David House Crew Band. Maa Ashaki recently made a pilgrimage to Ethiopia.
